Christ the Savior, from Sinai - icon318 - 6 inch

This icon of Christ the Savior is after the ancient Byzantine prototype preserved at the Monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai — one of the oldest surviving Christian sacred images in existence, venerated by the faithful for over a thousand years. The Sinai type is famed for its remarkable depth and spiritual presence, and has formed the prayer of countless Christians across the centuries. A Damascene Gallery mounted icon in the Sinai tradition is a devotional image rooted in the earliest stratum of Christian iconographic art.
